92 or 95 Gasoline – Which to Use?
Many drivers wonder whether to use 92 or 95 gasoline. The label represents octane rating, not quality or purity. Higher octane means better anti-knock performance.
Follow the manufacturer’s recommendation, which is often on the fuel cap or in the manual. High-compression engines require higher-octane fuel to avoid knocking.
Using a lower grade than required over a long period can cause vibration, power loss and engine damage. Mixing grades occasionally is harmless.
You do not need to use higher-octane fuel than recommended. It will not improve performance or save gas, but only cost more.
The rule is simple: follow the factory suggestion.
